Group Travel - Party Booking

Head of 'Meet and Greet' (left) with a groupReduced rates are available for bookings on all regular timetabled trains subject to a minimum of 15 paying passengers and at least three days advance notice. Compartments are reserved for all group bookings; groups are asked to travel together in the seats reserved for them.

One person must make the booking and payment for the whole group and they will be issued with a group travel ticket which is also a receipt. Where required seat regulation tickets, which do not show a fare, will also be issued for each member of the party, to an organiser, driver or courier who wishes to sell them on.

Stay All Day

Book your party on a round trip from Tywyn Wharf and Stay All Day. Download poster for details.

How to book

Bookings can be made in person at Wharf station, by fax, letter or telephone. All bookings will be confirmed by us in writing. A booking form is available on this site for you to print out and use.

How to pay

Payment can be made any time before train departure by cash, cheque or credit card. Accounts are subject to prior arrangement. Details of group rates are available elsewhere on this site.

Promotions

We are pleased to supply posters, leaflets and timetables to support marketing coach visits to the railway. We can also loan videos for on-coach or booking office use. A self supporting exhibition can be mounted at your ticket outlet by prior arrangement.

Chartering trains

We are always happy to discuss the provision of charter trains and evening excursions. For weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions we can combine train and catering services in a package deal. Please contact us for further information.

To enable Operators to plan tours the following are suggested as the more popular journeys. Included in the length of visit is a 40 minute break for toilets, shop and refreshments; add half an hour for the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum.

Catering

A large selection of freshly made sandwiches and cakes is available through the Talyllyn Railway King's Licensed Café at Tywyn Wharf and the Quarryman's Caban Tea Room at Abergynolwyn. Parties can request a priced menu to be sent to them and then fax or telephone their order the day before their visit. The order will be waiting for them on arrival at Tywyn or Abergynolwyn station.

Morning coffee and afternoon teas are available; for larger parties advance notice is helpful to enable us to maintain our usual standard of service. "Steam and Cream" teas are a feature for parties of up to 30 with a typical Welsh cream tea in a relaxed atmosphere. Our catering manager will be pleased to give you full details and take orders - see the contact information page for phone and fax details.
