There will be a colouring competition and lots of fun-filled activities going on throughout the day. Children will have the chance to have their photo taken with Dunacn which they will be able to take home with them in a special souvenir card. Children will be able to have free rides on Duncan’s shuttle and those aged 14 or over may ride on the footplate. There will be story-telling activities in between the shuttles. Duncan will be joined by some of his friends.
At Wharf Station, many of the ‘Tracksiders’, the Talyllyn Railway’s family volunteer working group, will be running their model railways in the Slater Room. A visit to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum at Wharf Station is a must, and with over seventy railways represented, the Museum portrays over 200 years of narrow gauge railways in Britain and Ireland. Special displays are devoted to the Talyllyn Railway and the Rev. W Awdry, author of the ‘Railway series’ of children’s books, whose connection with the Talyllyn led to his Skarloey Railway stories. Many Tracksiders will be reading some of these stories in the Museum. The Museum also contains the Rev. Awdry Study, one of the Museum’s permanent exhibits.
